Field Practicum

Experience

The field experience is related to and congruent with the overall objectives of the social work program. The field practicum is designed to facilitate the attainment of the program's objectives by providing the BSW student with opportunities to engage in experiential and observational types of learning. The field experience is therefore viewed as a vehicle through which:

• BSW students may integrate and enhance knowledge and skills taught in several social work courses, i.e. Human Behavior and the Social Environment, Social Work Practice, Policy, and Research.

• BSW students become participating agency members with knowledge and skills for effective entry-level generalist social work practice.

• BSW students develop professional attitudes and values and an identification with the social work professional community.
